Trauma Therapy

Trauma can be hard to define. We often think of war, abuse, accidents, or other significant incidents as trauma, but it can also result from complex, pervasive, and recurrent painful experiences. Getting an accurate assessment from a trauma informed therapist is an important first step.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based practice that was developed specifically to treat trauma. It helps reduce the disturbance related to the trauma history, and replaces negative internalized messages with more helpful learning.
